Welcome to
One of the things I (Ginny) enjoy most about my role at Evergreen is communicating with our clients via this newsletter. It allows me to be “chatty,“ which is a part of my nature (much to the chagrin of some who know me well). What’s even more fun for me is hearing back from some of you. It really tickles me to know people are actually reading this! In my last Evergreen Outreach I announced our new line of Get Well cards that includes a meditation CD for self-healing. We’re in the process of distributing it (in our spare time -- pause for laughter), and we are now producing a Sympathy card that includes a meditation CD to help ease the pain of personal loss. This came about when I heard from one of you with the tragic news of the violent death of a loved one. Our new CD is dedicated to the victim, and is available in our offices and on the website -- www.egreen.net ). As fate would have it, I’ve also recently lost someone very special to me -- my teacher, mentor, hero and friend Jonathan Pearce. The book I’m currently writing is dedicated to him. It is a companion to Charming Children, in which Jonathan believed so strongly. No one was more supportive than he as that book came to fruition. Indeed it was Jonathan who realized I was a writer long before I did. Although he insisted on it, it took me thirty years to believe him and to prove him right. With Halloween right around the proverbial corner, how would you like to dress up this year as a skinnier you? It was James, our Modesto affiliate, who learned from a medical doctor about the HCG diet. He put it into practice and lost 50 pounds in 50 days, feeling fine along the way and looking great in the long run. His results seemed so miraculous I decided to give it a go myself, and I lost 15 pounds in 3 weeks (taking 3 inches off my waist). Dr. Eunice Green of Green’s Nutrition on Stockton’s Miracle Mile provided the homeopathic drops I used, as well as educated input. We partnered to teach a class on HCG, which included a self-hypnosis CD that lends support to the HCG regimen. I’ve recommended this approach to many who have enjoyed results similar to James’s and mine. They‘ve assured us that the guidelines are easier to follow when using the self-hypnosis CD (also available at Green‘s). I have to say that I, personally, am deeply grateful to the endocrinologist who developed this method of weight loss. I love wearing clothes in a smaller size, while eating and drinking everything I enjoy. As advertised, HCG established a new set point weight for me that I’ve maintained effortlessly since ending use of the drops and returning to “normal” eating 6 weeks ago. A word of caution -- do NOT rely on information (or product) you may find on the internet. If you’d like to know more, call Evergreen at either the Stockton (209-472-0722) or the Modesto (209-622-3837) office, find our e-mail addresses at www.egreen.net, or contact Dr. Green at (209) 464-5738. We’re happy to share legitimate information with you based on both personal and professional experience. We’re no cyberspace strangers looking for an easy way to rip folks off. Once we help you get started you know where to find us for ongoing support.
After Halloween comes Thanksgiving, of course, and I’m using this opportunity to convey an early expression of our appreciation to all of you who, over the years, have allowed us the privilege of helping you make improvements in yourselves and in your lives. The economy is topsy-turvy, that’s for sure, and Evergreen’s continuing success is largely due to your trusting us with your concerns, and your confidence in referring others to us. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
For those of you who cook from scratch, here are a few healthy suggestions that help reduce caloric intake and provide natural nutrition:
1. Substitute cauliflower for potatoes (think scalloped or mashed.) Also add as chunks to a pot of homemade clam chowder, opting for Manhattan style (tomato base) rather than New England style (milk or cream base).
2. Substitute Shirataki noodles for pasta. You can find them at most health food stores, in various forms such as Angel Hair or Spaghetti.
3. Order a basic thin crust pizza from Papa Murphy’s, then add your own favorites. We use reduced salt salami (in moderation), for example, fat-free cheese, and fresh spinach leaves. If you count calories, you’ll be surprised at how many you can eliminate while retaining great flavor.
4. When eating a hamburger or hotdog, first use a spoon to scoop out much of the inner bun. Grilling your own at home also lets you avoid the salt used commercially, which causes fluid retention/weight gain. |
