Some of you have heard/read this before, but it bares repeating: Everything going on in your head -- of which you are aware -- is happening on a conscious level. Conscious of means aware of. While you are aware of what you are reading at this very moment, for example, you are thinking about it, making sense of each word, each line, each concept, and the information that you do not reject consciously (which can also mean deliberately) is filtering down into the subconscious part of your mind where, based on your perception (interpretation) of the information, it is also being processed (differently) and it is being stored there ”secretly.”
If I were writing about potatoes, for example, you would read about them and forget about them (consciously). At a later time you might be wondering, “What shall I take to Sunday’s potluck?” and the idea comes to you -- potato salad! Where did that idea come from? Your subconscious mind gave it to you when you needed it, after processing the information stored there. (A GREAT weight-conscious recipe for potato salad is included later on, BTW.)
Here is an example of how a great idea recently occurred to us (Frank, James, and yours truly - Ginny) : We were invited to a health fair at a local corporation, being offered to employees and their families. We brainstormed (because several people storing “potatoes” subconsciously, each with their own perception of potatoes, can provide many more options to consider). In answer to the potluck question -- with potatoes on the mind -- one person might think “salad” while another thinks, “chips and dip” and still another thinks “garlic mashed“). But enough about starchy foods (starch is reduced by half in the recipe you’ll find later).
The idea that came up when we asked, “What can we do at the health fair that will engage people, rather than bore them with talk and printed material was - let’s give them an opportunity to experience hypnosis! We recorded a 5-minute “sample” of a stress reduction session, made a lounge chair and earphones available, and people loved it! 100% of listeners left with a huge smile on their face and a new bounce in their step. In fact, most who tried it wanted to buy it! Alas, it was not for sale. AND THIS IS WHERE YOU …

And here it is at last: my potato salad recipe that cuts WEIGH down on calories and carbohydrates: ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Ginny’s Slimmer Time Potato Salad
1, Cook potatoes as you would normally for potato salad. 2. Let them sit a minute or so in ice water and easily pull the skins off . Pat dry. 3. Cook an equal amount of cauliflower to same consistency as the cooked potatoes. 4. Let the potatoes and the cauliflower cool, gently dice them and mix. 5. Add whatever ingredients you would normally use for potato salad. I toss in: Chopped red onion Chopped organic celery Chopped hard boiled eggs Sweet pickle relish Mayonnaise Fresh dill Fresh parsley Salt substitute to taste Ground pepper to taste
Best if you can let the salad (covered) sit overnight in the fridge. Let me know how you like it, and I hope you get as many compliments when you serve it, as I have! ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
